Philadelphia, PA – JEVS Care at Home, one of the leading providers of non-medical home care in the Delaware Valley region, is proud to announce that it has received the 2024 Best of Home Care – Provider of Choice Award from Home Care Pulse (HCP). The Provider of Choice Award is granted only to top-ranking home care providers, based on client satisfaction scores gathered by HCP, an independent satisfaction research firm for post-acute care. JEVS Care at Home is recognized among a select few home care providers across the country who have proven their ability to provide outstanding care.

“We’re excited to congratulate JEVS Care at Home for their well-deserved achievement on earning the Best of Home Care – Provider of Choice Award,” says Todd Austin, President of HCP. “It’s wonderful to see the hard work that JEVS is putting in to provide high-quality care and employment—their effort isn’t going unnoticed. This award allows them to provide proof of quality to potential new clients and caregivers.”

Best of Home Care – Provider of Choice award-winning providers have contracted with HCP to gather feedback from their clients by conducting live phone interviews with their clients each month. HCP is a third-party company, which collects honest and unbiased feedback.

“JEVS is proud to be a recipient of this prestigious award which demonstrates our commitment to providing excellent in-home care for adults with disabilities and older adults in the Philadelphia area. This honor would not be possible without our dedicated direct support professionals who put their heart into caregiving. Thank you to them, our clients, and partners who make JEVS exceptional,” said Waleska Maldonado, Chief Program Officer of JEVS Human Services.

“At HCP, our mission is to help post-acute care businesses create an experience that goes beyond client and caregiver expectations,” says Todd Austin, President of HCP. “We are happy to recognize JEVS Care at Home as a Best of Home Care – Provider of Choice and to celebrate their accomplishments as a trusted home care provider.”

JEVS Staff Gathers for Second Annual Employee Winterfest

JEVS Human Services staff had a blast at the 2024 Winterfest – an awesome 80s and 90s-themed bash at SPIN Philadelphia. Colleagues from across the organization gathered for this year’s annual employee celebration.

The festivities kicked off with a totally tubular 80s-themed video welcome from JEVS President and CEO, Cynthia F. Figueroa. Her message set the stage for an afternoon packed with fun.

Many employees decked out in 80s and 90s style costumes. They also enjoyed delicious food, including a specially crafted JEVS-themed mocktail.

Games, prizes, a ping-pong tournament, and a dance floor made it a great time!

Each person’s entry ticket became a chance in the raffle. The winners were: Yana K. (tool basket); Fatima M. (movie basket); Pauline C. (restaurant basket); and Sharyn C. (Spin basket).

Paulette L. won the trivia challenge, and two employees tied for best dressed: Devez P. and Janet E.

The event brought staff together for an afternoon filled with 80s and 90s nostalgia, camaraderie, and laughter.

The 2024 Winterfest Planning Committee

Special shoutout to the 2024 JEVS Winterfest committee for putting together an unforgettable celebration!

A Look at OneSight’s September 2023 Vision Clinic in Philadelphia

The Need for Vision Clinics

Do you wear glasses? If so, you know the difference that corrective lenses make on daily life activities.

Unfortunately, many people are not able to spend the time and money it takes to receive an eye exam, get a script for prescription glasses, and purchase new eyewear. Especially because that usually doesn’t happen in one day.

Except for individuals who attend a local OneSight Vision Clinic, where participants see an ophthalmologist and get a pair of prescription glasses at zero cost.

OneSight’s mission is to help people “see more and be more,” because untreated vision impairment dramatically affects a person’s quality of life and ability to pursue certain goals. In fact, according to the OneSight website, “uncorrected poor vision affects 1 in 3 people around the world. 90% of these people live in developing communities where there is limited access to vision care and awareness of vision issues.”

Improving Lives Through Resources for Better Vision

That’s why the EssilorLuxottica Foundation brings its OneSight Vision Clinic to select cities around the country. Ultimately, they’re helping to increase the availability of vision correcting resources.

Recently, in September of this year, the EssilorLuxottica Foundation brought its OneSight Vision Clinic to Philadelphia. JEVS Human Services, the Philadelphia Housing Authority (PHA), and CVS (a company of Aetna) joined with OneSight to hold the vision clinic. This three-day event gave local Philadelphians the opportunity to get same day eye exams and prescription eyewear for free.

One participant, Modesty Charles, works for JEVS Care at Home as an in-home care professional. Prior to attending the OneSight clinic, Modesty said that her vision had begun to worsen and occasionally caused her headaches. Yet she left the vision clinic with a new pair of prescription glasses in hand. Then, she was amazed at the difference in her eyesight.

Fortunately, the OneSight Vision Clinic provided Modesty and 397 other Philadelphians with quality eyewear and restored daily vision.

Many thanks to the EssilorLuxottica Foundation for bringing the OneSight Vision Clinic to Philadelphia!
