Program for Offenders provides high-impact hands-on vocational assessment  and skills training to pre-trial detainees and sentenced inmates of the Philadelphia Department of Prisons. Enrolled inmates will have the opportunity to participate in vocational programming, inclusive of employment-focused re-entry supports that connect to high-priority occupations, allowing for greater employability once they have returned to society.

Services

  • Skills training includes: maintenance, environmental maintenance, job readiness/digital literacy, Microsoft Office specialist and life skills
  • Job search, résumé writing, interviewing skills, effective communications workplace expectations and personal development
  • Conduct pre- and post assessments to accurately determine skills, needs, interests and abilities in order to match employment possibilities via the CareerScope® platform and other tools
  • Opportunities to earn industry-recognized credentials

Eligibility

  • Pre-trial detainees and sentenced inmates of the Philadelphia Department of Prisons

Enrollment

  • Participants must be referred by assigned prison social workers
